BLOWN
We have just ordered a few days ago a Grabber Orange Convert GT. We ordered the top in vinyl. Is the cloth top better looking with this color combo? Or is the vinyl better? What about Maintnance of the top? Thanks you all for your time. moabman
I've got vinyl on an alloy. The vinyl isn't as black and is not as pure in color (lighter flecks in it). It also has a rougher texture. The vinyl is easier to care for and will last longer. MO-YMMV

ShelbyDude
How much more is the cloth? Only $230 for the cloth top. I would order the cloth.

BLOWN
How much more is the cloth? I do not know what the prce diffrence is. Being it is being ordered it is probably a N/C. on the order confirmation for the vinyl it is a N/C.
moabman
The cloth does look better on most cars but I think vinyl looks good on the alloy because it matches the charcoal color pretty well.

SLB8SNK
As I understand it, the cloth top is of higher quality and better sound proofing. I would never go anything other than cloth! Well spent couple hundred bucks... IMO
RUFDRAFT
Agreed. Lint apparently is an issue. But they make those pet hair lint rollers!

BLOWN
Thank you all for posting your thoughts. We have never had a convertible Always wanted one though. Thought about canceling the Apperance package and having the black stripes put on then when we get it buy the scoop and put it on. the scoop is held on by tape. We wanted the stripes to go all the way down the front and rear. Thanks

They end at the top end of the hood. I would probably go with the GT appearance package and have any stripes added afterwards and get exactly what you want. ShelbyDude
Can someone direct me to a site that shows us how to post photobucket pictuers on here. I have seen it on here but can not refind it. Thaks After you have the photos loaded on photobucket, just click on the little box under each photo you want to post. Then at the bottom of that page click on the GENERATE HTML AND IMG CODE link. Then a page will open with 5 choices where each one has codes listed in the box. HTML clickable thumbnails for Ebay, Livejournal, MySpace, etc. - recommended HTML images for Ebay, Livejournal, MySpace, etc. IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended IMG images for message boards URL's for email, Yahoo messenger, AOL messenger, etc You want the one that says: IMG images for message boards Click inside that box. It should highlight everything inside that box. Right click your mouse and copy. Then come here and just right click your mouse and paste. That will paste the codes into this message box where you type. Click add reply! Presto! Your pics are posted.

moabman
I just checked my top and with Ford and found some interesting tidbits that should help clear up some misconceptions - The cloth and vinyl tops are finished identically on the inside and have the same soundproofing - sorry dans500. The only difference is the cloth versus vinyl outer surface. Any perceived "quality" difference is your preference of exterior surface. Cloth has a smoother texture and a denser color especially in black. Most people would say that the cloth top looks better initially. However, you have to take extra care with the cloth and it attracts lint and dirt more than the vinyl. It will fade quicker than vinyl and will deteriorate faster also given equal UV exposure. Vinyl is easier to protect from UV by using standard protectants (Armorall, NXT protectant - almost every car finish care line now includes a plastic/vinyl protectant). Cloth can also be protected by using Teflon treatments (Scotchgard etc.) as long as they include a UV inhibitor.
