DAYTONA
2 coupes were on EBay this week with BIN prices of approx $35,8 and $37,8......apparently the market is being satisfied quickly on these cars...
crispy23c
Yeah, How about that. Big change form the 60-70 grand asking #s of just a few months ago. There are just too many Shelby somethings out there now. Even the casual Mustang enthusiast understands that Shelby badged Stangs are being built by the tens of thousands. Ford and SAI are building these great cars now in volume and with no intentions of providing a collectible instant classic. They are going to milk this association for evry unit sale that they can get. None of these vehicles could be considered an investment. Buy one with the understanding that there is nothing rare about a Shelby and adjust your purchase price accordingly Respectfully disagreeing. I think you are seeing 4 things: 1) Market sated for the Hertz fanatics; 2) Others found that buying a used Hertz was alot more pricey than a new Shelby GT, and logic prevailed; 3) Shelby GT is in year 2 of production, so a light GT Shelby is readily available without buying the Hertz 4) Convertible Shelby GT is now the 'flavor of the week' They only made 500 Hertz coupes, hardly what I would call flooding the market. The GT-H buyer is not the same buyer as the GT500 buyer. JMO... edit: Further, they are still selling for about what new retail is-- and they are 2 years old and driven hard. That, IMO, is unreal value retention in the used car market. Do the math
ve4mm
I bought a 07 GT500 last year Sept/06. It is a beauty. I was in the market for a 06 Shelby Hertz but, yes prices high. Mileage high. So, I added a 00R to my collection instead last month. Only 4000 miles. Only 300 produced. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! All Good! crispy23c
NICE, Mike! I was going to say "Welcome to the forums" but you have been here a while! I always loved the '00R, too. Sweet rides!!! ~Chris PS- I would really love a Shelby-Hertz convertible! :hyper: Beautiful car!!!
kb67
Crispy, I think you are right two different cars the Hertz was for stirring up interest the Shelby GT was to give the hardcore SA fan their out of the hands of Shelby car. I wish they would have tweaked it mechanically alittle more they left something out power wise. The Gt500 is a different approach to giving shelby fans something to dream about. I too want a 00R after seeing some of 427Cobra's videos he makes it look like a blast to drive one. That and a lightning would round out a nice garage. :D

ve4mm
Hi guys: Looks like the 00R is rising in value. One just sold on eBay for $51K......I paid $42K 2 months ago. Plus, they are getting wrecked one by one. (Mostly on the track) I like driving the 00R more than the 07 GT500. It is smaller and nimble. If I can get a 06 Hertz for $25K I would buy it. FORD ROCKS! Well, they are very rare (only 500 'verts, 500 coupes). Additionally, I like the way they look. I like the history behind them, too. Plus, it is (in all accounts) the very first year of the Shelby GT. And the first model to come out of SA. And they drive great! There are some with very low mileage on them out there, you just have to be vigilant. The bad news? I have a GT500 Super Snake on order...and now the price is dropping on the Hertz models... ! I need to hit the lottery and build another garage! YIKES!!!

I wanted a GT500,but ADM is rough on po' folks like me.So I opted for the Shelby GT in white,Didn't know that the GTH was so limited in production,Another question,Any body Know the ratio of 60's GTH production VS GT350,And what are they each bringing now?BTW Super Snake,Very nice!!!!!I've got a 14 yr old soon to drive,Insurance on My SGT is 320$ for 6 mos full coverage, the insurance companies don't know what it is because of the upgrade on a standard GT!Now they do know the vin# on a GT500,750$ for 6 mos I checked, can only Imagine what my rates would be when he starts driving! Are you open to adopt,me,not junior! Benzito
I recall that 1966 was the first and biggest production year of the GT350H. 800 black and gold stripes, 200 various other colors with gold stripes. Total production of GT350s was about 4,400 for 1966, and I *think* that included the Hertz cars. As for the appeal of the 2006 GT-H, it was the first year of the new Shelby after over 35 years, is a "real" Shelby for those who think that matters, and is one of less than 1,000 (compared to all of the other Mustang special editions, which were produced in much higher numbers - except the SGT SoCal edition). BINGO!!!! This is why I bought my GT-H (#286, a previous San Diego rental). Probably paid a few $$$$ more than I should have considering the mileage (24K), but the car was close to where I lived, I'm the first registered owner and I had a chance to spend an hour driving it before I purchased; one of the intangibles with regards to price you can't factor in when looking at a far off car on-line. No disrepect to GT owners or GT500 owners (I previously owned a 68 GT-500.....years ago), they are great cars too. But for me the GT-H did the trick. It's not an investment, its a love affair!!! TomG
I recall that 1966 was the first and biggest production year of the GT350H. 800 black and gold stripes, 200 various other colors with gold stripes. Total production of GT350s was about 4,400 for 1966, and I *think* that included the Hertz cars. Hi Benzito, I think the total 1966 GT 350 production was approx. 2480 x/- of these approx 1000 where GT 350 H's, approx 850 where classic Black/ Gold paint, the rest where Red/Gold or Blue/Gold and only a hand full where White/Gold and even fewer were White/Blue ( one of which is sitting in the Las Vegas Shelby Factory Museum. All were automatics with the exception of approx 85 which were 4 speed transmissions ( although many have been converted to 4 speed cars). Advertised horse power was 306, the first 850 or so had overrider traction bars with rear axle cable loops to prevent axle drift during negative "G" loads, after the first 850 x/- a few the following cars had underrider traction bars which were not as effective, but where much cheaper to install at point of orgin. I agree that ,in general, fewer numbers of production equals higher long term value. But first the car must have initial heavy media exposure and also be a great looker and driver so as to talk the talk and walk the walk. Hence the 2006 GT-H fills all those squares. And thanks to Carroll, Amy,Gary, and the Shelby factory, and all the guys building these cars, they are still keeping the V-8 kick butt attitude. ( OK , also the V-6/ with Super charger Terlingua car , which by the Bill Neale says is on the way).
