Looks like the party is over for Canadians

Recommended Posts

I just got back from my exdealer with the news after having a signed agreement for 14 months for there first car and being told countless times it was for MSRP that I would have to pay a $10,000 primium. I was told that most of the dealers in the Toronto area got together and decide they would all charge $10,000 a unit over. I told them I would not pay over MSRP and they should stick to our agreement. I am giving them time to reconcider before I start making phone calls.

Uh, that's illegal in the US (collusion...don't know if Ispelled that correctly). As for the more obviious part...your signed agreement...that's breech of contract, depending on what your deal stated.

Sick 'em.

Yep, price fixing is BAD in the US - I'd assume Canadian law is similar. :finger: Plus, the signed agreeement should mean something to them... good luck and keep us up to date on what's going on.

So what happened in Canada? I've been reading all over the place that it's illegal to charge over MSRP in Canada. Does the GT500 fall under some sort of exemption to this? Anyone have an explanation?

I also heard that price fixing in Ontario was against the law?

my reply from them about it is not legal to charge or MSRP was " theres ways around that"

What dealer is this?????????????

I'm confused, you said signed agreement (assuming sales contract) yet you say you were 'told' msrp.

Mine clearly states MSRP !!!!

A proper sales agreement is a legally binding document. IF this is your case, call your lawyer now!!!!

I have a signed agreement for there first car. I have only verbal on them telling me time and time they never charge over MSRP. Both the sales man and the sales manager told me yes we have told you all along it is at MSRP but we do not own the dealeship and the owner calls the shots. I am giving them a few days to come around before I put there name out.

Sounds like a load of Hooey! If you had a signed agreement I'd be calling your Lawyer tomorrow.

yesterday, I stopped by my dealer and we agreed that when the MSRP was announced that we'd adjust my Bill of Sale.

I hope it all works out for you. It seems most dealers had the MSRP on Saturday. I knew something was up when they were stalling on giving me the price when they had them.

Well, I'm still confused, signed for their first car??? On what agreement?? Mine is an actual sales agreement and I just checked it seconds ago...........msrp as released by Ford. Now, I am a bit concerned, my gen manager at the dealership told be Friday he was meeting with his Ford rep sometime this past monday and was to get back to all the people on the list with deposit/agreements either Monday afternoon or Tuesday. Well, it's 1 hour away from midnight close to Wednesday..........two days gone by and no call, no email. However, I've been reading that the price wasn't actually released so maybe???? Who knows anything anymore..............the waiting sucks. I could get screwed too somehow...............

Thanks! The Sales Manager said that they'd be getting at least 15. A co-worker of mine is #3. I was told, by Mr. Manager, that he'd be getting a call in a few weeks and receiving it in September sometime.

Apparently they're spacing the orders out?

So, $51 999 is Canadian MSRP for the coupe???

What is an SVT charge???

Was there a gas guzzler tax??? We don't have that in B.C.

I'm very happy for you!!!

But, I haven't heard from my guy yet, and I was confused as to whether or not Canadian

Thanks! They say to always go with your first gut feeling. Red was my First Choice before I saw the Performance White Coupe at the NAIAS. Then, I saw your Sister's paintshop examples and I thought that I was sold on Black. So I guess I went full circle back to old Red! Funny, the Canadian Order Guide Lists the Red as Colorado Red? Not Torch. The Paint Codes are the same though.
